On Saturday, October 30th 2010 Gowda Saraswath Sabha UK and Saraswat Samaj UK held a joint celebration of Diwali 2010 at Waldegrave School Hall, Twickenham, London. Dr Neeraj Patil, Mayor of London Borough of Lambeth was the chief guest and Dr Nanda Kumar, Executive Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan UK was the guest of Honour
The program was celebrated in a grand style with around over 340 members attending the program. On arrival members were served with amchi style Rulam , Shevo, Vada, Chetney and Jelebis. The Program started with lighting the Deepa, invocation followed by an enthusictic talk by Dr Neeraj Patil and Dr Nanda Kumar. Sri Venkatraman Sthalekar, Chairman Saraswat Samaj and Sri Sadanand Nayak Chairman G S Sabha thanked all the members of both the organisations for supporting the get together in such large numbers and making the event a grand success. There was a variety entertainment program performed by children and adults from member families. The entertainment program was followed by a sumptuous Konkani style dinner. Radio Idli representative Sudeep had the pleasure of recording this event for our viewers. Talking to Sudeep, Dr Prakash Nayak, Secretary of the Sabha expressed delight at the success of the combined event with a record attendance of Konkanis from all over The Great Britain.

Thanks for publishing 3 of clips from the UK Diwali function on your site. But in fact there were over 3 hours worth of entertainment which I am sure people would like to watch. Would anyone who has the videos please send them to this site “Radio Idli” so as to enable everyone who likes Radio Idli to be aware that we are upholding our rich culture from Hindustan despite being abroad.
