Shrinivas and Brahmi Shenoy – Mumbai concert

Young and talented Shrinivas Shenoy was introduced to us sometime back by his father Guruduth Shenoy. We have five videos of yet another spectacular performance of Shrinivas and his Sister Brahmi at Shri Ram Mandir Wadala, Mumbai. Listening to his rendition, it doesn’t take time to guess that his gifted voice and talent has its origin in a family that has always been doing seva to the Lord with their voice. Shrinvas’ Grandfather was a Bhajan veteran and his mother is a gifted singer too. The stage of Wadala, Shri Ram Mandir has given its due support to encourage and catch the artist young.

Konkani children’s drama – Kundya Kurkula

Vishwa Konkani Kendra (www.vishwakonkani.org), among many of its initiatives promoting our mother tongue – Konkani, held a special Children’s theatre tour. Kundya Kurkula – a common folk tale was enacted by Konkani children, and was widely received with full houses across locations including Udupi, Bhatkal, Bangalore, Honnavar, Kumta and Karwar. Being a close associate with the Kendra for its online initiatives, Radio Idli takes great pleasure in featuring videos of the drama uploaded by the Vishwa Konkani Kendra. We would also like to thank Shri Madhur Bhandarkar for his request to feature the amazing performance.

Yashodi Sundari – Konkani Kasturi by Ramesh Pai

A Konkani song (Anonymous poet) explaining one such occasion where Lord Krishna convinced His own mother Yashoda of His divine powers. The scene of Krishna showing the entire world in His small mouth is well narrated by many poets in different languages. Here the poet links the incident with a Ganesh Pooja performed by Yashoda who observed a fasting but same time prepared Modaks for Naivedya. What followed is better heard in this song itself.
